Second sight now DJK? Cheeky B****r, indeed!

Nevertheless, I'm not arguing for argument's sake. I was sure that when you first reported your frightening 'road block' experience that you had said it was at 3 o'clock in the morning?

Never mind, I still say that visitors who might need to hear all this (as BB suggests, they are going off the beaten track anyway) won't be put off by this scaremongering as they are the more intrepid types or are already used to Luxor. Those who will be made even more frightened, however, and maybe change their minds, are the first-time 'ordinary' tourists. They will miss out on the holiday of a lifetime, and the tourist trade (and consequently everyone else) in Luxor will continue to suffer, as it has done since shortly after the revolution. And all because some posters on here believe that the incoming tourist is stupid enough to really need to be constantly reminded that Luxor has the same potential for crime and upset as any other small town anywhere else in the world; earth shattering news, indeed!

I think you missed reading some of my posts Teddyboy, Ive always said its not as safe as before the revolution and of course many things have changed in comparing Luxor now to how it was before the revolution, not on how its compares to anywhere else in the world. Of course tourists know there is crime in any city in the world but im sure many will be grateful for any informationabout any incidents, forewarned is forearmed.

I'll agree that if all they read is the first post they might be put off but if they have got as far as finding the forum then unless they are really stupid they will wait and read the replies and then make up their own minds.

I'm sorry Mr Keefy, but in my opinion 'forewarned is forearmed' should be for constantly repeating problems which can and do appertain to a particular resort or town; like the hassle from caleche and felucca men or the over-friendliness of some waiters etc. Forewarning people about the sort of occurrence which one in several thousand tourists might come across is plain overkill.

BB, as far as many people are concerned, when they are considering visiting a strange Muslim country; 'there's no smoke without fire'!
