West bank monuments

Post by Darkstar » Tue Jan 01, 2013 7:59 pm

Just a quick question, are the west bank monuments open at night yet please? I know it was planned, but can't find out if it has happened yet, thanks.

I have certainly not heard anything more about night time opening. To be honest with the few tourists visiting at the moment there does not seem any point.

Unfortunately not. It would not be difficult or too expensive to put it into force, as the temples are already floodlit, and as for the tombs, it makes no difference. But the experience would be definitely enhanced. Many tourists and expats enjoy visiting Luxor temple at night - it's a different experience, and although the tourist numbers may be down, it would be another attraction for the West Bank.
I might agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!

Perhaps they could experiment with just twice a week for starters and see how it goes - there wouldnt be a big increase in wages as they pay the staff bxggxr all anyway.

Sadly I suspect the issue would be the police. They leave the checkpoints by 5pm and are soon tucked up snug in their barracks until next morning. You would have to persuade them to come out and work after dark :zz
