I would love to...

Post by TAL777 »

Well, anyone who has the guts and sense of adventure, there is a cheap Thommo Flight next Friday from Gatwick to Hurghada £208 return....and then by road to Luxor...

I'm sure it would be alright but..... people are dying, you won't get travel insurance, what would your loved ones say back home....

Reading around various web pages it would seem that many people are taking flights to Hurghada as a means of getting to Luxor.

It would also seem that some folks, having checked with their insurers are covered for all the normal things as long as it is not a direct result of the troubles. However, anyone thinking they will go to Egypt - that is in the 'no go zones' should really check out their own policy with the providers and get any assurance and confirmation in writing.
Other people have been shopping around and found policies that will cover them - but at a price!
Of course, there are those that are going to travel without insurance too - that is their choice. Let's face it, it's something we all hope we will never need, and rarely do, but end up paying an awful lot of money over the years for that personal peace of mind.

Or you could stay in Hurghada very nice by the sea. Or fly to Luxor.

I find Hurghada ok for a day or two, if that, but then other parts normally beckon such as the Nile Valley, or Cairo..

Smart Aviation appears not to fly regularly from Hurghada to Luxor. The alternative is EgyptAir via Cairo at about £289 return.

Or of course fly from Heathrow to Luxor on Egyptair avoiding Hurghada completely. :mo

I spent all last nite looking at deals to Hurghada. It's bloody expensive from Glasgow/Gatwick and Gatwick/Hurghada.
It ain't worth the stress and anxiety!
I could book...will it be cancelled?
Who's to know?
Yes,I'd be quite happy to spend 14days in Hurghada...but not at the prices they're quoting.So...Zante beckons..half the price..and opportunity to visit another country.

Are you saying that the road from Hurghada to Luxor isn't open at the moment?

I understand the railways are also not happening..

I could be sneaky with my Feb flights - could change them to fly to Hurghada for xmas and new year - current price before luggage around £800 then re book Feb to and from Hurghada for about £300 which is about £100 more than I have already paid - something to mull over.
