Oh, now I understand! :Phew:

I thought for a minute that our friend wanted the streets of Luxor cleaned up of "these people" because it is totally unacceptable in Europe.

The only response to that is Spike Milligan's in

If you take the single line as quoted then yes it would indicate that CE wants the streets of Europe cleared of beggars but taken in context with the rest of CE reply then it does read as you suggest Bennu.

Yes, you are right Brian. Begging is and has always been a tourist turn off, no matter what the situation is or what country it is. When I was a tourist I spent hours listening to other tourists talking about the beggars, the hassle, and the filthy streets of Luxor. Now I live here I could not care two hoots really, I have become hardened to it, but when I set this topic going I was trying to get across the view of a tourist, whether you like begging, or may even do it yourself is another matter, its not what we that live here think its what the first time visitor thinks and its that opinion that will determine if he will return again.

Someone read my word BEGGAR and took the topic off at a tangent, what about the other things I mentioned in the topic header? Mind you I should be used to topics going off on tangents by now   The majority of them do   Especially if you mention something bad about the place. RTG.

It beggars belief that we would have the energy to carry on with it all. :urm:

I sometimes wonder why I ever post at all, and it seems most of you seem to wonder why I post, if its not twisted and turned its one item that gets seized and gone on about forever, or even stolen from this site and used on another site (I have just received an e-mail copy) to be criticized. But in the words of those who live with the saying "This is Egypt" God bless you all....

Regarding posts from this forum being used on other sites, the words Pot, Kettle and Black spring to mind. It maybe that these posters have no new news or nothing else better to say... In the words of Kimberly.

It's human nature when reading a post that covers a number of things for the reader to focus on parts, not the whole.

If a post is made it is put out to a readership that may, or may not, comment on one way or another. It may be a general or specific comment, it may be a question, it may take some other form.

Some posters specifically ask for for further comment but then complain when those comments don't please them.

Such is the way of internet forums!

Talk about getting mixed up, I had reason to go to the Police Station today, after 5 mins of trying to explain who I wanted to see, I was escorted to a room to wait, after 10 mins I was told the Captain will see you now, he greeted me and I sat down and spieled off what I had gone for and what I wanted to report, the Captain sat there and looked at the documentation I handed over to him, after a couple of minutes he said do you know where you are, I said yes, he said no, I looked at him confused and he replied this is the State Security Offices, thinking to myself there is nothing like going to the top, I asked for my documents back and he in return asked to see my passport, which I obliged. After a few more words, and the Captains advice myself and wife left. I just thought it was the new Police Station, it looked like it. : :icd: :icd:
