EGYPTAIR Moves its Operation to Heathrow’s Queen’s Terminal

Post by Bombay »

In a quantum leap to apply the “Move under One Roof” strategy, the world’s leading airline alliance, Star Alliance announced that the new Heathrow’s T2 will be the home for all Star Alliance member airlines serving Heathrow and representing over 20% of the airport’s traffic.
It is the first time all Star Alliance carriers will be in a single Heathrow terminal, creating a superior travel experience for passengers, new business opportunities for the member airlines and providing an improved working environment for employees.
Star Alliance and its member carriers have jointly designed the new purpose-built Terminal 2 in order to better meet the needs of today’s air passenger. Technology is integrated into the terminal experience and serves the needs of those customers who would like to take advantage of this support.
Noteworthy that the official opening of Heathrow’s T2 will be next June 23rd and that EGYPTAIR will start operating from this terminal in September 2014.

I know this May sound a daft question Bombay but, do I take this to understand that EgyptAir will therefore close their office at Olympia. The only reason I ask is that I have always dealt direct with them this way, even when there office was in Piccadilly.

I know we live in this internet world, though I find that I have always been able to get a flight when I want, and always at a price lower than priced anywhere else, when I deal direct with them.

I don't thinks so its just the change of terminal at Heathrow from 3 to the new terminal 2 which is for all Star Alliance Airlines.

Thanks Bombay, the next time I'm in that area, will check on its long term future, and write on here if the situation is to change.

I can only find that the official opening by HM The Queen (not Helen Mirren) is 26th June 2015 however the Terminal starts to operate from Sept/Oct 2014.
Maybe A Four can phone a friend in the UK office they may help with some office.

Well, it seems that they don't know either, though nearer the date, all passengers with EgyptAir will be contacted by either phone or e-mail, plus there will be loads of advertising on relevant trains including Underground train, also immediately when you get off trains at relevant points, where terminal 1,2 and3 are at the same station. Posters will be displayed at relevant points for those arriving by bus or own transport, this will apply on the first day of change.

P.S.- Off the record, things are not going too well,............Well, it never has, where EgyptAir is concerned.

Yours faithfully,
A-Four (long suffering passenger of said airline).

Egyptair are not building the terminal the BAA website says Sept/Oct for airlines to move in they are already running practices with volunteers, BAA are determined to not have a repeat of Terminal 5 opening which is why the official opening is June 2015. And then Boris can knock it all down :stp

They move into the terminal 17th September

Theres no need to panic about it anyway, moving from terminal 2 to 3 takes a very short time so if you turn up at the wrong terminal its no biggy.

All you have to do is check the Heathrow website the morning of your flight to confirm which terminal you are departing from.

Its not as if they are switching airports!

Heathrow airport's new Terminal 2 opens to passengers

Heathrow's new Terminal 2 has welcomed its first passengers, with the airport insisting it has learned lessons from the opening of Terminal 5.

The first flight, a United Airlines from Chicago, arrived at 05:49 BST.

Passengers on the first of 34 United flights scheduled for Wednesday were greeted by staff in Beefeater costumes.

The airport will open in stages to avoid the chaos in 2008 when Terminal 5 opened and staff struggled to cope with the computer and baggage systems.

Gentler start
The new terminal will operate at 10% of capacity on the first day and it will be some months before the other 25 airlines using Terminals 1, 3 and 4 join United Airlines at the new building.

I just hope the new revamped T2 has a better choice of places to eat and drink than at T5. I could not believe how limited it was at T5 when I used it.

Well, it will have a John Lewis store within the complex, believe that or not, but true.
