Coming to Egypt
Somewhere in the near near future I plan to come to Egypt. I feel like I should it would be a daring thing to do but I'm willing to do it. What are some things that I need to look out for and how much money should I carry?

Re: Coming to Egypt
About bloody time too !
I hope the experience you have is a great as the ones I have enjoyed.
I have met some wonderful people too, sadly for me the best encounters were just one offs, but touched my heart in a very positive manner, and they Weill never be forgotten.
You will get some good advice off people on this forum regarding traveling about and what to do. Hopefully you will get to meet them too.

Why do you think it will be a daring thing to do?Frater0082 wrote:Somewhere in the near near future I plan to come to Egypt. I feel like I should it would be a daring thing to do but I'm willing to do it. What are some things that I need to look out for and how much money should I carry?
When you ask '...What are some things that I need to look out for...' , can you be more precise about 'things' please.
You obviously have some concerns and in order for others to be able to best help you, you perhaps need to be a bit more specific.
How much money? That depends on what your plans are, so we can only give a guide on that if we know more about your plans. It is however, rather like the question 'How long is a piece of string?' !

it is what you do with what happens to you.

Re: Coming to Egypt
Frater very pleased that you are going to visit Egypt but as Hepzibah says more details are required before anyone can help with your plans.
How long are you planning to stay?
Where do you want to visit, Cairo, Aswan, Luxor?
Where are you going to stay, a five star hotel or cheap hostel?
Actually not a very daring thing to do millions visit Egypt every year without incident. I was speaking to a young American girl the other day who was visiting here alone and having a wonderful time.
Your visa to enter Egypt is 25 dollars which lasts one month apart from that I'm afraid can't be much more help on the cost front because of the lack of specific details.

The general rule of thumb regarding money is, once you have decided on a budget, double it! With packing clothes, it is halve it!
Experience has shown me this is pretty true.

Re: Coming to Egypt
If you are thinking of visiting Luxor Frater0082, my friend and I will be quite happy to show you around the city. If you need a trip to the Temples and Tombs, my taxi driver speaks good English and will take good care of you with no overcharging or visits to his family.
All you need do is PM me on here with the time and hotel.

Life is your's to do with as you wish- do not let other's try to control it for you. Count Dusak- 1345.

I think it is fair to say that Egypt has changed a lot, and not at all, since your last visit.

Re: Coming to Egypt
That is always the best policy in my mind Frater.
Don't believe a thing they tell you down here, it's all a bit topsy turvy truth be told.....
What is your list of priorities regarding the sites and places to visit. ?
