Obra Aida

Post by carrie » Sun Sep 22, 2019 6:17 am

Yes it's coming to Luxor and creating a lot of excitement amongst the locals. It's going to resurrect Luxor's fortune.
I just hope the corniche and other building works are completed before the big day but I fear they wont be and that the Opera will prove to be a big disappointment in attracting repeat visitors.

Surely it’ll only be the Cairo glitterati who can afford the prices....and air fares.

Definitely a “one-off” as far as they’re concerned.

With any luck they won’t be going anywhere near the corniche.....unless they’re marooned in Luxor overnight.

Of course, some may combine the evening with a week’s sightseeing.

As if.... :urm:

Maybe they will fly in via the WB heli pad direct from the airport.

That’s what I thought you meant Carrie....rather than Who2’s convoluted pseudo-explanation.

Once I had a phone call from an Egyptian musician. I told him that I was going to the opera.

"Obra! Oh, she has some very interesting shows!"

So the temple looks good all changing colours but the mountain lights behind look like coral reef, very weird.
They should have invested a few bob 'renewing the Swiss' s lighting project, We liked that,
it took them months to get it right, then no-one changed the bulbs, it's an egyptian thing!

Well it's all very quiet on my western front.
I mean where's the sound check ? full dress rehearsal ? I reckon it's a disaster waiting to happen.

We did the Tank Girl Party 2500 people in the Roundhouse a disaster,....
Oh! Egyptians can have tickets for 600le....
So back up to the roof to 'hav a shufti!.... 8)

I hired 12 posh portaloos they all went into one sewer, which became blocked within the hour.

I said 'chuck the crash barriers down as walkways....

I gave up later..... 'f**em liggers the lot, that party cost United International Pictures £45K,
We ended up owing £17k we walked!...but like Woodstock we had fun..... 8)
