Egypt to gradually reintroduce international flights

Post by crewmeal »

An interesting article appeared stating international flights to resume, but only to the coastal resorts. Looks like Cairo, Luxor and Aswan are still off the list, also Brits not welcome as we still have flight restrictions.

Cairo is usually the easiest place to fly in to from the UK or other international airports.

What do you mean by 'Brits not welcome'?
It is hardly Egypt's fault if the UK has an 'Only essential travel' advisory in place at this time.

Reading between the lines, I think this announcement is really only of interest to travellers on EgyptAir.
He said that travellers must sign an acknowledgement at departure airports that they are free of the virus prior to boarding their planes and before receiving the boarding pass.

Travellers coming to Egypt from countries with high rates of coronavirus infections, based on evaluation by the World Health Organization (WHO), will be required to submit PCR test results before travelling to prove they are coronavirus-free.
Egypt is in no position to dictate the conditions Easyjet, for example, imposes on its passengers. How, for example, would Egypt propose supervising departures at Gatwick? Many passengers will have printed off their boarding pass weeks before departure

The idea that passengers “self certify” that they are virus free has clearly not been thought through....and, again, it would be a matter for the airline concerned.

All the announcement is saying is that foreign airlines are free to access certain Egyptian airports (other than departures from countries with a high virus risk). Whether the airlines of any countries chose to resume flights to Egypt will be down to any national restrictions ( e.g.FCO advice) and their own view on the commercial viability of resuming flights.....given that many erstwhile tourists might be wary of the virus situation in Egypt, not to mention the restrictions they will face on arrival.

I’m left with the impression that the author of this article has never taken an international flight :urm:

Population Of the UK: 66.65 million. Deaths = 52,999. Recovered: 36,914.
Population of Egypt: 102,334,404.. Deaths = 1,672. Recovered: 12,329.

Now I'm not a conspiracy theorist but,...... 8)
Ps: Perhaps the NHS should be asking Egypt's 'incredible health services their secret.

Of course it's not Egypt's fault I know that but until our virus numbers drop to a level that's acceptable to the world we are not welcome anywhere.

Trump's administration has stated that it may be months before we can travel there. I don't think Australia and New Zealand will let Brits in especially after 2 were found to have the virus on entering NZ. Even when the travel advisory has changed my guess many countries will be suspicious of Brits especially after seeing the demonstrations last weekend.

It’s enough to make you reconsider the merits of religion..... :tk

P.S. According to a re-reading of the Mayan Calendar the world will end next week so no need to worry about this virus malarkey.

" Not welcome" I hope not! For those of us that have resided in Egypt for years and have no base elsewhere in the world I will ignore the FCO advice as my travel is "essential" .

And I hope the loosening of restrictions enables you to get home soon. Despite a none-too-impressive record on COVID-19, hopefully Egypt will soon permit foreigners from U.K. to fly into Cairo.

EgyptAir fly regularly. I doubt the likes of TUI or EasyJet will be returning anytime soon....at least not from U.K.

I look at it as just another chapter in one's life....no big deal
another landmark, and hopefully being alive lucky enough to reflect upon.

I'm not returning until I'm ready to. qed my life is worth more than a bit of sun.... 8)

Whilst it's good to see Egypt back on the list of allowable countries to the EU (not UK) I'm surprised to see India, some South American and African countries on the list as their virus numbers are going through the roof.

I reckon the UK will be on many countries ban.
Let's be honest here, why on earth would anyone (with a brain) want to be on a plane now,
or in the next few months..

It's beyond 'a logical thinking persons' brain, but hey! least way's the 'bournemouth covid party beach brigade,
will be winging their way to any cheap all inclusive sun seeking hedonistic holidays.
And the working class's are poor ? spare me...
Take all the ravers with them, spread it far & wide. Oh! I forgot... it already is....

Black lives matter ? really, you wouldn't think so...
And while I'm on it, be it or be it not one of the Mossad's many method's,
Bending the knee on one's esophagus and bending the knee seems a bit 'taking the proverbial p*ss.

When all these sunny destinations turn into graveyards who will get the blame ? check the insurance small print
Rant over, just returned from the Dr's wanting to check if I was ok ? I said "wants wrong with zoom ?... 8)

Ps: Once arrived at an incident 2 coppers sitting on a struggling nutter, daft pair of sods, when they got off him
he stopped struggling duh! and coppers are part of the 95% of planks..
I just stare an evil look in the CoOp at those the 'maskless....'the great unwashed as someone famous stated.
I mean the street beggars can be bothered to wear them..
