PCR testing at Hurghada airport. Not taking any chances are they?

Most of the comment on social media is from Egyptians who are pi*sed that tourists are only paying $30 for a test which, if Egyptians need ( if going to work abroad for example), costs a lot more!

Hurghada arrivals update :

Both EasyJet and Pegasus will allow you to board a flight to Hurghada notwithstanding the absence of a PCR certificate at point of departure. You will be tested at Hurghada which may involve a short period at a hotel.

There is much information on the actual experience on the FB site “Hurghada Tourist Informaton Group”.

Incidentally, news is breaking that a number of recent arrivals proved positive on testing at Hurghada and are under isolation at their hotel - Albatross Palace

I was shocked - (as if) - to learn the COVID positives at Albatross were Ukrainians.

Probably arrived on Pegasus via Istanbul.....like me, albeit 2 weeks ago in my case.

Goes to show the flaws inherent in a “test on arrival” system although the requirement to test before flying is hardly foolproof.

Good luck hatusu. Gone are the days where you actually enjoyed flying off to a destination, nowadays hassle. Let us know how you get on. Have you got your PCR certificate? I hope there are no delays or it might be out of date :)

Head of Egypt's Civil Aviation Authority Ashraf Noweir decided on Wednesday to allow some travellers arriving at the country’s airports to present a negative PCR test result if it was taken within 96 hours of the traveller’s arrival, rather than the previous 72 hours, a statement by the Ministry of Immigration and expatriate affairs said.

Only applies to certain travellers.....but includes those coming from Heathrow I.e destined for Luxor.

A welcome relaxation. Not sure if it applies to other London airports though so no use for travellers from Gatwick/Stansted to Hurghada.
