Ethiopia Prize Winning Dam Builders.

Post by Hafiz »

Ethiopia Prize Winning Dam Builders.

Egypt is at it again on the dam and are looking for friends to ‘“We call on the international community to shoulder its responsibility in finding a solution that satisfies all parties.”

A decade of screaming has produced no friends in this matter –no Saudi, no USA, no UN, no Arab League, no Africa Union and no North Sudan.

It’s a measure of how few friends Egypt actually has that it can’t produce one on this vital issue. Another issue but Egypt’s lying and ruthless pursuit of its own narrow interests has produced a friends list of less than 3.

Ethiopia’s point is clear: ‘Ethiopia rejected that proposal, calling it “an effort to maintain a self-claimed colonial era-based water allocation and veto power on any project in the Nile system”.” https://www.reuters.com/article/us-ethi ... SKBN1WO1XQ

Not a bad point.

Egypt still has other options to hold onto its water allocation and unbelievable waste of water using 1st dynasty irrigation systems. There is always the bombing option but existing steps leading up to this including the assassination of the chief engineer don’t seem to have had much effect to date.

Bombing and finding friends is now less likely given that the PM of Ethiopia, Amiy Ahmed, has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, is a darling of the left and makes the Egyptian brutes look just like their mothers know they are. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-nobe ... SKBN1WQ12I

The Prize is bound to lead to many leaders in the west and third world wanting to be associated with him/give him money/agree with his initiatives.

Critics say its I a premature award, based on little achievement, to a young man barely warm in the job and who has many mortal enemies including Egypt and the equally fatal Muslim fundamentalists but the award should at least call off some assassins for a few weeks.

Whilst he claims to be a democrat the following article and much worse beside indicates its a one man show and getting worse. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-nobe ... SKBN1WQ18C

As many know from a work environment where the big old man resents the achievements of the new kid on the block. Killing isn’t always a bad idea – if you are a hopeless old man hated by the world who will never win a prize – expect some prizes from the UAE/Saudi for Sisi in he next 6 months to prop up his febrile personality (infinitely broad definition of personality).

Interesting that a nation of engineers, Egypt, claims no actual involvement in the dam nor in the rescue of the Nubian Monuments. In addition the Alex Harbor is a mess along with the water and sewerage system - what have those hundreds of thousands of doggerel trained Egyptian engineers been doing. Even the recent contracts to widen the canal were dominated by European engineering firms and professional services companies. Another waste of money as the boats using the canal have been static (the Chinese Belt and Road strategy of land based communication with Europe will ruin the canal as a transport option) unlike the European firms who made sure their $US6-15 billion went west in all senses of that phrase. Some estimates on the cost of meeting Sisi's hair brained time targets have the cost at $US21 billion against a budget of $US8 billion.

The high cost Canal faces several major threats including the price of oil because when its cheap its a lower cost option to go around the Cape. Its biggest threat is the Chinese and the answer is a low cost and efficient Canal - a first - and not managed by a geriatric retired admiral.
