Quotes
I really have BIG problems with quotes on this forum.
If I'm replying to post and want to "quote"from another post it never seems to work!
How do I get these quotes into nice little boxes at beginning of my post?

Ditto TB!
I've quoted from you in another post, but hoped to see it in a tidy little box!

Re: Quotes
To get this post with your quote I did not open a reply box but instead pressed Quote on the bottom right of the page. It then opened up a reply box with your quote already there.Scottishtourist wrote:I really have BIG problems with quotes on this forum.

To get that into a 'quote box' I will have to put the bracket portions to the post ie quote=" name of person " post /quote (I've had to leave the acutal [] brackets off to use the expample other wise you can't acutally see it. Once you use the 'quote' button you will see what I mean.)

Re: Quotes
You click the quote button in the lower right corner of the post that you want to quote, and write your own message under what will appear as a nice little box, when you submit your post.Scottishtourist wrote:I really have BIG problems with quotes on this forum.

Re: Quotes
If you want to have quotes within quotes you use the same methods.HEPZIBAH wrote:To get this post with your quote I did not open a reply box but instead pressed Quote on the bottom right of the page. Re: Quotes
Thanks Hepzibah, will give it a try!
Thanks too Bennu.I've tried that, but it always seems to copy whole post...and sometimes I just want to pick out a certain element of it to "quote."
Will apologise now for fact that when I attempt it again I'll probably muck it all up...and everyone will be reading quotes from everyone else as I try to master the technique!lol!

Re: Quotes
You can edit what you quote and of course use the preview function, while you practise.Scottishtourist wrote: Thanks too Bennu.I've tried that, but it always seems to copy whole post...and sometimes I just want to pick out a certain element of it to "quote."l!

Re: Quotes
To pick out elements of a quote you have to quote the whole piece and then edit from within the quote portion as I have done above.Scottishtourist wrote:Thanks too Bennu.I've tried that, but it always seems to copy whole post...and sometimes I just want to pick out a certain element of it to "quote."

The BBCode disabled in your profile, so no code would work anyway, Ive enabled it now, so all code will work now. Dont disable the BBCode in your profile, this is the 2nd time I have re-enabled it.

Re: Quotes
Editing is easy if you don't want the whole post. After clicking on the Quote button, simply highlight the words you don't want then delete.
