Perhaps just a tiny drop more...

Post by BENNU »

It has been years since I heard this song by Danish/Dutch duo Nina & Frederik, it is still as hilarious as ever:

Egypt is going to adopt John Denvers song Leaving on a jet plane as its new national anthem.

If I remember correctly either Nina or Fredrick was related to Danish Royalty, my recollections of them was of course, "Puff"

I believe it was Frederik van Pallandt that was a Baron, Nina becoming Baroness when they married.

By "Puff" do you mean Puff the Magic Dragon? Wasn't it Peter, Paul and Mary that brought this song to our attention! I don't recall hearing Nina and Frederik singing it, but I suppose it is possible.

Thanks Bennu - I've just had a journey down memory lane and found other performances of theirs, and also of Nina's as a soloist. What a beautiful women - I thought so when, as a child, I first saw her on TV and looking back I still think she was/is?

I think the most famous song of theirs for me will always be Little Donkey - which unsurprisingly became one of my own party pieces!

Very Good Bennu.. :up
I liked the portrayal of the Englishman in that song..

Also, an apt choice.... It has been snowing since Thursday night, and I am stranded in my house... :urm:
so, in good old Bullet Magnet style, I have spent the last 18 hours in bed...

All ther nighbours are clearing their driveways, despite the fact they are going nowhere, and also performed the same task yesterday.. Muppets... :cg

I'm going for a bath, a cuppa, and then back into hibernation.... ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Thank you! That was my whole point of posting it - with what you hear about English men here in Luxor, I did consider putting it in "Intercultural Relations"...

To be fair, that song was like 3 generations ago Bennu.

I think you will find the Englishman has somewhat cast off his Victorian Values regarding the fairer sex...

We continually bemoan the fact that these heavy snowfalls put a stop to our lives but we never give a thought to the poor livestock that become entombed beneath these monstrous drifts. I enjoy having a couple of frozen joints of lamb in the freezer but would not be happy finding them beneath the hedge rows after the thaw. A farmers lot is not a happy one at times.
