Glastonbury 2013

Post by Scottishtourist »

The Rolling Stones.
God,shut my eyes and just listen!
But to look at them....time hasn't been too kind has it?
We still have Mick gyrating and posturing (fit guy!)but the rest of them!!!
Can't wait for tomorrow...Mumford and Sons!
Was gutted when all tickets for them were sold out in Glasgow last time they toured.I blame my daughter...she procrastinated...and I didn't get tickets.

I agree Helsx.
They're still going strong and sounding as good as ever!
Wonder if "One Direction"will be headlining festivals in years to come!(I don't think!)
Are you old enough to remember "Live Aid?"(1985)
Performance that topped everything was "Queen."
They kicked it off...and nothing else compared.
Band split when Freddie died...heard "Days of our Lives" and "Show Must Go On"...and we all knew, didn't we?
His epitaph?
No-one could ever take his place,so no one ever did!
Great to see the "Stones"still performing.

I watched it with my mum and dad. Our 70 year old neighbours stayed up to watch it in bed. It seems the whole of the UK were watching their performance...I for one, thought it was electric! I am totally floored. They are 'Rock & Roll' What a night!

Love the Stones, always have, legends.

But it must be said, as a live act they have always been very average at best, they cant play the same song the same way twice, they are way too loose.

The bar has been set by the likes of Queen and my favourite band U2.

Queen were amazing, growing up as a kid in the 60's and 70's, and waiting for thier next record to come out..

The music was awesome, and I was lucky to grow up during their evolution, being there as it happened so to speak.

My Eldest son loves their music as well..... ( I taught him well )

Queen died when Freddie died, but Brian May has flogged that horse into the ground now... Although, they had a good stint under Paul Rogers from Free and Bad Company..

Queen's MOST important song ever written by Freddie, and then in the last years, a few tracks off thier last album, Innuendo..

Glasto' First year without rain in a long time I hear...... :up :up :up

Wouldn't mind being there in all honesty, :lv :lv :lv

It's Kenny Rogers today at 5.
Another legend, albeit with a different style!Really looking forward to watching him.
I saw him in concert (hundreds) of years ago and joke he told STILL amuses me.
He asked all men in audience to put up their hands, then asked how many had been coerced by their wives/girlfriends to attend the show. There were a few mutterings from the audience.
Quick as a flash,he told them all to try and make an effort and enjoy the show without complaining..."because she fakes it for you most nights!"

I loved the Stones last night...bloody amazing for their ages, honestly....living legends
And Kenny was great! I think the 'oldies' stage on a Sunday is my favorite.
I am watching Mumford and Sons....but really can't see how they are headlining the Sunday night, they have only been around for 2 mins and had a handful of hits.
no-one will top Beyonce the other year, she was blooming amazing!

I HAVE to go one year to Glasto, tis on the bucket list!
Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

An older person's view of Glastonbury - http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2013/ju ... lastonbury

Nearly all of G2 is about the festival - the Guardian probably had its own tent!
I might agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!
