As a young child, this is a song I heard often, My mother was always singing around the house, so this song grew on me,
but it's the sort of thing you keep quiet about as you get older, admitting that you still like such a song.
This has to be one of the best versions I have yet to hear.
Sung and played by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole
At around 2:38, you will realise that this Wonderful man is no longer with us,
and what a send off he is given... A CELEBRATION !!!
NOT feeling sorry for YOURSELF, ye who do not understand death...
Well Toto.. Seem's like we're not in Kansas anymore...

...and breath!
I love that version of Over the Rainbow but haven't heard it in a long time. That is the first time though that I have seen or heard the name of the performer.
A beautiful rendition which on a gloomy teatime in the UK as brought tears to my eyes - for all the right reasons.

I've heard that version once..and never heard it again until now.
It's beautiful,so upbeat,and I often wondered who sang it.
Does anyone remember "ER?" An American hospital series that introduced the delightfully gorgeous George Clooney to all us middle aged women of discerning taste?
My favourite character in the series was not gorgeous George..but the equally delicious Dr Mark Green.
He died in Hawaii in the series...and this version of the song was played during the death scene in that episode.I loved it then, but never heard it again.
Thanks BM.

Re: Well Toto.. Seem's like we're not in Kansas anymore...
To be truthful, as I watched that video for the first time and heard the opening chords on the Ukulele, I knew this was something very special and moving.
When I saw the footprints erased from the sand by the wave on the beach, I realised that Iz must be dead...
( yes I can do symbolism, hence my conflict with the Establishment's version of the Glyph's and pictograms.. )
It brought a tear to my eye too.... for the right reasons... Or maybe it was a speck or 2 of sentiment blown in on the wind.....
Hawaii looks beautiful, a very special place, and one I may visit in the future, the Sea, forests and mountain scenery. The locals look quite friendly too..
Another beautiful song, and in my opinion the best version of Sting's Fields of Gold.., by another deceased person.. Eva Cassidy..
Get the kleenex ready..

So beautiful. Eva Cassidy had a gorgeous tone to her voice and her phraseology was masterful.
Thanks for sharing.
