War of the Worlds: The Art of story telling

Post by Bullet Magnet »

Story telling is an art form in itself. This brilliantly retold H.G. Wells classic "The War of the Worlds" by Jeff Wayne,
Narrated by Richard Burton, and many true stars make appearances on this genius Album.

Interesting point, is that no one's name is mentioned in full during the story, or they are simply refereed to as their trade, such as the main protagonist, the Journalist, ( Richard Burton ) the Artillery Man, ( David Essex), Nathaniel ( the Priest played by Phil Lynott ) etc....

Find a spare couple of hours and relive this 1978 classic album in it's entirety. Enjoy the mental images and the atmosphere the album creates.. Enjoy... :up

It is an Album that you could not play a lot, but like a good book, it is nice to come back to every few years.
I can see how indeed it could be seen as a load of crap, the atmosphere has to be right to fully appreciate..

Now Mars is inhabited entirely with Robots: True Story if you think about it.. :wi

They needed to go somewhere I guess.

I admit I have never seen this, I remember the album, and really nice to see Herbie Flowers strutting his stuff but feel I need to drop a tab to really appreciate it...

So when one looks at the metaphors of this story it all makes sense. Perhaps... :cg

Mars, the bringer of War, The pods left Mars while emitting a green flare,
the lid revealing the war machines when they landed on earth was slowly unscrewed over a period of time.
The War machines that were 3 legged, and emitted a deadly heat ray that targeted only Humans
the red weed that followed and dried up the streams, slowly starting to cover the earth.

the main characters being, A reporter, who gets separated from his true love as she sails away to safety.
The Vicar and his wife, the Artilleryman with his dream of a brave new world, but gets diverted by his own ego in creating this brave new world.

But the story did have a happy ending. Let us hope that our story does as well.

Amen to that...... :br
