The jungle Book

Post by John Landon »

Has anyone seen the new film version of this great book ? is it worth a watch ?

I Loved the 1967 Cartoon version, My favourite character was of course Baloo.

Bill Murray ( one of my favourite actors of all time ) plays Baloo in the new movie so I am told.

Here's that wonderful song of Baloo's, sung by Dr. John and the Nite Trippers.
Not sure if this was released on the ATCO label or not. ? I always thought they made good lawn mowers myself, with a front loading grass collector.. :ct

Yes, recommended. It's considerably darker in tone than the animated version and I'm told it sticks to the Kipling source more closely.

The main reason to catch it though is the astonishing visuals. It takes CGI animation to a whole new level. If you have a 3d telly, this is the film you'll be putting on to show it off!

I'm not totally adverse to the Disneyfication of stories, after all, who does not like a happy ending ? :br

Yes, we all enjoy a happy ending, but s*** happens in real life, so more honest/plausible endings should be shown. I think that I'm correct in saying that long ago in the UK TV industry, a fictional program was not allowed to portray that crime pays, so the ''baddies'' were always apprehended, one way or another. Even by today's more easy going standards, it is rare to see any success story's.

I remember The Sweeny and The Professionals, back in the mid to late 70's and sometimes the so called bad guy got away with it... :up

I never fell for all that mind control stuff, along with the Fish head's

Our life is a story that unfolds day by day, and we all know how that story has to end... //cue the grim reaper//

You make your own Happy ending, and so far I have managed to escape death. :ct
