Just when you think things couldn't get any more complicated they tell the " Other Arf " he's got coeliac disease.
I'm afraid that my reaction was not very sympathetic.
It's quite doable but for a bloke who loves all things bread its a bit of a nightmare. Have yet to find a decent gluten free bread/muffin that stays in one piece and doesn't taste revolting, so anyone who has any experience with this I'm open to any suggestions.
Oh and in an attempt at including him in our normal family meal I got some "gluten free" spaghetti the other day
It melted into a slime in the bottom of the pan
Primordial ooze anyone ?
Did some rice and turned the spag bol into a chilli !
& I see that Warburtons do a gluten free range, as well as the usual suspects, Sainsbury's etc which did a limited range when I was there. Good luck (you'll probably need it )
Since I went vegan I also went gluten free, and despite being active before, I now find I have so much more energy and feel better in every way. Actually gluten can be the cause of many "dis-eases" and conditions apart from coeliac disease.
I make my own bread, so easy with a "hale and hearty" gluten free bread mix, just do it in a 1lb loaf tin and it's lovely. I sometimes get the seed version or add my own dried fruit for a change. Excellent bread and so tasty
These videos are quite helpful on the subject of gluten free
The SIL has celiacs and must have a gluten free diet. Here there is a Company called "Bob's Red Mill" that sells excellent flour combinations that are totally gluten free and make cooking fairly easy. We're always thinking wheat flour which is the easiest to get and cheapest but there are a multitude of flour combos...........fava, rice, soy etc....
Good luck with the diet - takes a bit to get the hang of how to cook a gluten free diet.
