Yesterday I was given a sample bag of El Farasha "Italiano" durum pasta, made in Egypt. Just from the look of it, I knew that this was quality and I hope that I convinced Mr. Sudane in the supermarket in Gezira to order a couple of the twelve different shapes, even though it would cost twice as much as the normal Egyptian pasta. It is worth much more than that. They probably sell it on the East Bank somewhere, it is by far the best pasta I have ever tried in Egypt.
This evening I enjoyed a plate of delicious fussili al dente in creamy Danablue/youghurt* sauce with capers, Roomi and Chevre. Perfetto!
*though Sudane sells cream for cooking now.

Re: Durum Pasta
Today Sudane Supermarket on the main street in Gezira got nine different shapes of this good paste, and it sells fast. It may be available in other stores, of course. 400 g cost EGP 4,50.
