Foie Gras could be off the menu due to Brexit
Well another mad scare blaming Brexit.
The Egyptians first had this tasty parfait back in 2500bc.
And it's been devoured for a couple of hundred years in London.
So just because brexit doesn't mean the end of Foie Gras it just means the end of Frogs dictating to us...

Ps: I buy mine quite cheaply in Smithfield Market, where else ?
Pss: And as it said on the T-shirt, If you don't like it 'Suck my Duck!

Although I'm partial to pâté I wouldn't order foie gras simply because I believe ramming corn down some poor bird's gullet is unnecessarily cruel.
Not that the production of meat generally is much better.
I can't see us leaving EU will make much difference to its availability in UK. You can still eat (drink?) shark's fin soup in Chinatown despite the import of fins being illegal.

Don't get me started on factory farming....
I reckon a happy pig, cow, chicken, turkey, sheeps, bunny rabbits, pheasant, duck, goose, lamb, even fish have feelings are a tastier dish.
So, When you pays cheap you gets cheep, all factory farmed crap..
Ps: Who can't taste the difference betwixt farmed salmon or trout and the real thing..

Good job you live in Luxor Dr, there are plenty of duck foie gras for sale in the Belgium Shop on the adjacent corner to the fruit shop in Gezera. Tasty too, if you don't mind how fois gras is developed.

Now I have been trying to visualise the Belgium shop, to no avail.
Does it have a window ? is it left right or opposite the veg shop ?...cheers....

Looking from across the road to the fruit and veg shop, the one you use, it's on the right hand corner, as you turn into the road that takes you to the Sherazade Hotel.

Re: Foie Gras could be off the menu due to Brexit
Found it tonight it was open, it must be brand new but £25quid for 250gr of foie gras is double the price from Smithfield Mkt.
It looks a nice place obviously somebodies French wife, but forget it, I'm not paying those prices, I'll give it less than 6 months.
Personally my two Xmas geese will be fed garlic, rosemary, thyme and corn fed for two months they will live happily on my roof until Xmas.
Then it's the chop and free foie gras and some tasty goose...
Ps: They have sales sheets in English & French and it's called Sa Re and on FB/sareeegypt.....

Seeing as our new Summer abode is based in France I see a business opportunity here . A case full of Foie Gras ready for distribution mid October could do the trick

I agree with the above post, but between foie gras and smoked back or green bacon the bacon wins every time.
23 kilos of 'streaky will turn you a better profit here, than once a month blow out on foie gras,
unless of course you could bring some 78 chablis as an accompaniment.....just a thought!....

Re: Foie Gras could be off the menu due to Brexit
2nd purchase from Sa Re today 40 grms of duck breast 50le at today's exchange rate £2.50.
Pretty good value and enough for 2 people.
Last week Duck rillettes, basically shredded duck in duck fat.
A bit of my 'touch and a very presentable thick spread on toast.mmm!
I'm going to order one of their whole ducks for Xmas......

I checked their 'menu' because your pricing and quantity seemed way off.Who2 wrote:2nd purchase from Sa Re today 40 grms of duck breast 50le at today's exchange rate £2.50.

One gets 400gms of 'Duck magret' for about Le50. That now looks good value.

I'd have picked that up just as quickly, but have let your idiosyncratic grms off.
