Souq.com
I would normally like to give my custom to local shops but these are strange times we live in. Even in normal times I hate having to go over the river to shop, especially in the hot weather, so just lately Ive been doing quite a bit of shopping on Souq.com, and Ive found the service excellent. Many items have free delivery, and even when there Is a delivery charge its usually less than the cost of transport into Luxor. You can choose to pay when ordering or pay on delivery, and they phone to let you know they are on their way. So far, can’t fault it, (which is strange for here …………)

Re: Souq.com
Thanks for that but have you got a "proper" address for them to deliver to? And do you pay on delivery?

Re: Souq.com
When you place your order you tick a box to say whether you will pay then with your card details, or cash on delivery. Ive normally paid COD for small items but my last order placed was for a new microwave (my 20 yr old one finally bit the dust), so for a large amount like that I would pay when I order (not obligatory, my choice).
I dont think any of us on the West Bank have a "proper" address. If you just put down "Near ........" on your order form (your nearest hotel or landmark) and then when you get the phone call to say he's on his way you can direct him more specifically.

Re: Souq.com
I have used them many times even having delivered 40 kilos of peat.
They would deliver to Gezira Garden ring me and 'bob's your uncle.
Their east bank center is opposite the pet shop paws & claws.
Very efficient, this week in lockdown I'm expecting herbs and more peat here in the UK...
Ps: Bob isn't really my Uncle...

Re: Souq.com
I've just taken a delivery from Souq.com - four days early. Courier phoned me and was waiting at the Amon Hotel. This was my first order and I cannot fault their service - yet! I have given him a more specific address for the next delivery - er, opposite the camel enclosure. Paid online by card. Impressed - so far........

Re: Souq.com
Personally I found the system to be very crapish. Created an account, filled my basket with 7,000 worth of goods, attempted to pay on delivery at the local collection point in Luxor, would not let me do it. three days later went into collection point, explained the problem and asked them to help me place the order, a thing that pays their wages, received a no can do with a shrug of the shoulders. So said 'uck the lot of you then.
