Not living in Luxor..day errrr

Post by Who2 »

Monday morning blues, lunchtime for Simona, she rung me from the office "put the kettle on!
She as normal interrupting my busy work schedule..
her rabbiting on about shells & architecture..ffs..So to shut her up...

Dug out the old autobiography and spotted this gem...

circa 1956 ish...
"Opposite the hotel was either a Ms Colgate or a Ms Gibbs of toothpaste fame.
To our left Donald Bailey who was in the war office and designed The Bailey Bridge system also very close was the Boscombe Shell House, I was often helping the old gentleman put shells into wet cement he wrote my name in shells he had the same name as me.
On our land we had a WW2 pill box looking out over the channel, this was my first camp the first of many. My father and a few friends pushed it over the cliff where it remained on the beach upside down for many a year."
'spot the pillbox...tata... 8)
Ps: Oh! Amazon just delivered her another computer screen she has three already and a mouse for me...

Small world.
When I was a kid in the 50's we often used to holiday at the West Cliff hotel (owned by a distant relative) which is only a few miles away. I remember the Boscombe Shell House as well.
