It seems to be a tad more serious this time. Thousands of people are receiving visits from engineers to have their land and property measured. If there is a full stop missing or a ' t' not crossed on their ownership documents, then they are ordered to pay the government per square meter. My friends family have just been ordered to pay over 16,000 Le. There are many more in her village and the next two. The option if thay can not, or will not pay, is demolition. Also once again the little subsidised food stuffs that they recieved have been halved. They all say the same, the new construction of an unwanted new city, a new museum, a proposed new highway when the people are starving. Only time will tell if this is one of those occasions that things usually come in 3' s.
Life is your's to do with as you wish- do not let other's try to control it for you. Count Dusak- 1345.

They’ve been moaning about these issues for years Dusak.....and not without reason.

But as for any kind of uprising....forget it. Apart from the general apathy which has plagued Egyptian society for decades, the current regime has been ruthless in removing any organisation, and any person, who might provide a focal point for opposition.

Illegal building, particularly on agricultural land, has been a running sore for many years and, in Sisi’s eyes, ranks with the water situation as a fundamental obstacle to Egypt’s development. The problem, and abuses, became particularly flagrant in the aftermath of the 2011 revolution. Sisi is well aware that his draconian measures are going to cause some social reaction.

He has taken the view that he can ride this out ....and I suspect he’s right.

A new museum yes, but a new city? Whats the point? It's a bit like HS2 is it really necessary? Both projects are causing aggro. Why not just extend the infrastructure!! but there again I know nothing about Egyptian politics
