Egyptian Governate Contact Numbers.

Post by oldbag » Mon Dec 21, 2009 12:22 am

I found this handy-dandy spreadsheet on line covering all the governates with contacts for different departments.

You need to be able to view Excel files to read it and it's all in Arabic. NOTE it goes directly to an EXCEL file not a webpage.

http://tinyurl.com/EgyptGovernates

Directorates of Real Estate Tax look like this (according to Google Translate anyway):

مديرية الضرائب العقارية

You can copy and paste the arabic and put it in your 'find' box in Excel to find them all. There isn't one listed for Luxor but there is for Kena (Qena/Qina)but there is for just about every other place.

So if you are in Egypt and not in Cairo or Alex, might be worth ringing one of the numbers (or have an Arabic-speaking friend do it!) to see where the form should go to!

I already add that numbers in my telephone directory. In case of emergency or needed, I definitely easy call them. I am using VOiP phone and I have no problem in accessing any information.

123

Post by Helsx » Sat Aug 28, 2010 5:28 pm

I would just like to revive this post for useful telephone numbers. Recently, I was witness to a totally horrific accident, where a worker so sadly and unnecessarily lost his life.
He came from the Fayoum area and worked on a very important project here in Luxor.
Being at the scene of the accident, I was calling for someone to call 123...no-one knew of this and did not understand what I was asking them to do? This is our Ambulance Service here. It frightens me that no-one knew this number, I have had it in my phone for 4 years and never had to use it. AlHumbdullilah.
IF......this number had been called, maybe, just maybe, his life would have been saved? I don't know. But I feel I must make everyone aware that this is a number we must ALL have in our phones.
People have also said that the ambulances are of no help, they carry nothing on board. Well after witnessing this accident, I have made it my business to speak to the Ambulance men at the ticket office here on the West Bank. They are there, serving as a back up to the tourists (VOK, VOQ etc. etc) and of course to our beloved local people. It was immaculately clean, organised, drugs on board, respiratory equipment, blood pressure monitoring equipment, everything that you would expect, plus a/c. The guys I spoke to were a team of two, Muslim and Coptic, with 21 years of experience between them. The vehicle is a VW and can travel up to 120 kmph. I feel very comforted after speaking to these guys that IF, and I hope to God I never have to, but IF, I had to call 123, they would arrive directly and be able to help to their best ability. All we need to give them is our address. We don't need fluent Arabi, just our street, whose house we live in. i.e 'Ana sachna f'il bait Hagag, Sharia .......
I have discovered the reason that the Ambulance men did not arrive to the scene of this recent accident, was due to the fact that no one called, despite my efforts. Please put this number in your mobile. Tell as many people as you can.

Now there's an idea! as an ex-ex paramedic I would love to go out there again sirens screaming saving souls sometimes, most-times.
All I need is an ambulance a work-permit and a hollow bic-biro.

Are you sure?? I thought it was about 100LE?
I only ask because we had a do up here last year with a foreign lady, and not one of the women wanted to call 123 because no one wanted to be the one responsible for the fee. (These were all foreign ladies I may add, absolutely disgusted doesn't fit the part well enough that there were people that were worried about more about who would pay the ambulance as opposed to an old lady that had collapsed!) Maybe things have changed and it is free now?

Personally I would give 123 a call first !!

But should I ever feel the urge to have my throat slit and a Bic Biro rammed into my windpipe, where the heimlich maneuver may have sufficed, I will indeed call upon your Services Doc' ;)

Re: Useful Telephone Numbers New Luxor Medical Centre

Post by Georgiaturkiye » Sun Oct 14, 2012 9:23 am

Does anyone have the address and telephone number(s) for the new Luxor Medical Centre. As a new resident to Ramlah I am adding all the necessary (insha Allah not....necessary) telephone numbers to my mobile. Don't have a landline yet where I am staying but presume all the numbers here on this list can be reached from a mobile?

Thank you Dusak. Sounds as though this centre is almost the same as medical centres in Istanbul.....where's there's muck there's money :D I only plan to look but not touch for the time being....insha Allah. Don't worry about an address guys, I'm sure a taxi or a caleche will know the location.

The address is Villa Kamal, St Joseph Street ... just past the St Joseph and Flobater Hotels.

Time for an update on this list? All mobile numbers now require an extra digit!

What happens if you have a fire? Don't see the number on here, or does the police also cover this service?

Are you worried someone might actually know the answer and call them, ... after you have lit the blue touch paper on departure day?

I would not have thought there was that much to burn in an Egyptian cement block built house with tiled roof and floors Hepzi. :tk That is unless you set fire to the contents, but any good squatter can always clean that mess up when they move into the shell.
