The A-Z of life
In the next couple of days or so I will be placing my first six years of living here. I will speak of the people I have met, ones that I wished I hadn't. Places and situations that came very close to make me regret coming here. It will catalog my likes and dislikes and things and situations that have disappointed or misled me. Even though I was married when first arriving here it will only show my experiences although my then wife was present at the majority of them. They will not be in chronological order, but an alphabetical one as this has given me the opportunity to split very long items into smaller segments. I will adhere to the forum rules governing naming people and they will contain only first hand accounts. With the exception of X,Y and Z each letter will contain three sections so hopefully I will be able to post every two days or so. I just hope that I don't suffer a stroke before the end.

It's a great idea, Dusak, providing you keep it up!
unfortunately, I've started to read lots of accounts like this, only to have them fall by the wayside after a couple of posts!

Re: The A-Z of life
Its taken several weeks Ruby Slippers to hand wright so its all ready to post but it will still be a mammoth job as I will still need to re-edit as I prepare the post. Its just my six year life story, I'm not attempting to produce any form of sensationalism, just what I have experienced and how it has effected my life. Some people may find it boring, some may find it objectionable. I do not use any names, although in certain sections I would of liked to because those names would of impacted more and perhaps help people understand why it was important to me and altered my view, to a certain extent, of living here. The main problem I think I will have is the internet connection, as Keefy pointed out in a previous post sometimes you have to keep logging in or suddenly your connection disappears as has happened this morning, having to re-log in several times.

Re: The A-Z of life
Type it up first in microsoft word or wordpad or any other word program you have, then just copy and paste it to the forum, since using this usb dongle I have started copying the text before I press submitDusak wrote:The main problem I think I will have is the internet connection, as Keefy pointed out in a previous post sometimes you have to keep logging in or suddenly your connection disappears as has happened this morning, having to re-log in several times.
Right click within the text box and click select all once all the text is highlighted blue, right click again and select copy, if all fails after pressing submit and you have to login again, then you can just right click in the text box and click on paste.

Re: The A-Z of life
Unfortunately Keefy I have no method of creating files as when I bought this crap lap here I had a friend load it with windows 7 and that's it otherwise it would of been simple to just create a file and transport it over. I'll take it as it comes and hopefully its only to day the system is playing up at least with the new system you put in place there doesn't seem to be any ''time out'' losses any more. And if it does carry on, I'll change it to my fist seven years.
Another point while I'm here, would the save draft keep it for me. If so that would enable me to re-edit at my leisure?

Yes it would, but if you get logged out it would notDusak wrote:Another point while I'm here, would the save draft keep it for me. If so that would enable me to re-edit at my leisure?

The best way is just copy the text you have typed in the box before you click submit, if you get logged out then all you have to do is click paste back in the box once your logged in again.

EDIT: Windows 7 as wordpad and notepad

Right click on your desktop and select new, then text document. this will create a new text document on your desktop, just double click the icon to open and type your text, then save, use that to copy and paste your text to the forum.

Re: The A-Z of life
So now you know, Dusak!
I must admit to looking forward to reading it, even though you are trying decry it already! Don't be so negative! You've already had plaudits for your writing skills (writing competition) so it should be good. At the moment I'm reading the diaries of Nella Last - she of 'Housewife 49' fame, and although they can in no way be termed 'sensationalist', being the minutiae of her daily life, they are still keeping me interested. So - what are you waiting for?

Re: The A-Z of life
I have always found great interest in talking-books of the non-fiction variety, where you can feel in their voice the passion they feel for what ever subject.
I find the best being the diaries of political personalities, where I can safely say I have lived through their actions. Many can not wait to start writting their accounts, the moment they leave office, while still spitting feathers and blood. One of Thatcher's ministers Alan Clarke, was a class act especially with references to four letter words of bad language which seem to flow with a flourish, plus his remarks about 'bongo-bongo' land. John Major's was a real eye opener. The best in my oppinion was Margaret Thatcher's six hour rant, the venum that came from her mouth was trully astounding, that you would never pick up on by simply reading her book -The Downing Street Years.
As for Tony Blair's effort, it seemed he thought, he was still in power, and almost as good as old Harold Wilson in avoiding the answer to any question put to him,........and to think I paid £26-00 for such a poor insight.
Dear Dusak, - Will your effort here go Vinyl ?,................. I do hope so.

Re: The A-Z of life
Ive split your posts into seperate topics Dusak, all your posts (A-Z) in the same topic will im sure start getting very complex when people start to respond to certain part of your posts.
Ive also edited your first post in this topic to show links to each seperate topic, I will edit this when you make a new topic and add the links till it's complete.

Re: The A-Z of life
Thanks for that Keefy, I think, no, I know, I'd still be scratching my head if you had suggested I do this. A computer, to me, is just a word processor that has lots of extra buttons. BM, my thanks to you for the download for the Apache Attack helicopter program. Very good and so simple to use, really pleased with it. Thanks.

Re: The A-Z of life
Windows 7 includes NotePad and WordPad (possibly under the heading of accessories) either of which will be fine for typing up a text-only page before uploading to the forum. If you are including pictures then the task becomes less easy, but get the text in first.Dusak wrote:Unfortunately Keefy I have no method of creating files as when I bought this crap lap here I had a friend load it with windows 7 and that's it otherwise it would of been simple to just create a file and transport it over.
