I'm not sure if this has already been put on here but Joan Halawi died in London on 1st August 2013.
She was known as Joanna in Luxor and lived there for about 5 or 6 years

So sad. I loved working with her and we became friends outside work. RIP Joan

Oh I think I do know Joanna. She was a regular player in the quiz teams on the EB. I had heard that she was seriously ill, but I am still shocked and very sad to hear of her passing. RIP Joanna.

No, not that Joan, Bombay. She used to play in the quizzes at the Pub 2000 not the Regal, and she sometimes compiled and asked the questions. If I have the right Joanna, which I'm pretty sure I have. I don't recall her ever visiting the Regal.Bombay wrote:The only Joan I know played the quiz at the Regal on Fridays and been here a longtime but went to the UK recently.

Yes TT you have the right one. Joanna used to be a regular at pub2000. her funeral will take place on 28th August at 2.30pm for those who may wish to remember her at this time.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Thankyou Janen. Can't get used to the idea that she's gone really. Very sad. I hope she didn't suffer too much in her illness.

Re: Death of an ex-pat
So Joanna is now an ex ex ex-pat. I don't think that I knew her (I am hopeless with names and faces) but extend my sympathy to her family and friends.
