Check Points

Post by Chocolate Eclair » Sat Nov 30, 2013 12:52 pm

This morning stopped twice going into Luxor for motorcycle documents, how come this never happens on the West Bank? Only check point I have been through on the West Bank is where the West Bank Super Highway, meets the junction where the road leads off to the Horus Bridge. (Stopped once in 4 years on the WB) My Taxi driver tells me its warmer on the West Bank, so the Police sleep more.
Today overtook a flatbed tuk tuk with what could only be described has a minor driving it with three of his mates in the back, mind you he may have stolen it and was going to hold it to ransom but to me a loaded gun in the hands of a 4 year old, very dangerous to other road users.

Reminds me of that time a group of us (Egyptians, ex-pats and I) were in a microbus heading over the bridge - the police stopped us at the check point then one of the 'chiefs' spotted Keefy shouted his name and waved us on.

The police know who the secret agents are in the country. Call it a perk of the job. :up

What bike have you got now DJ?, I know where there is a Honda 600 for sale complete with fairings and all the trimmings - looks very nice. hope it does not take you long to register it! Up to press for me it has taken 6 months and still awaiting security clearance from Cairo..However I do have the dealers last Cairo number plate on it. Maybe I should take it off, it seems has though if you have no number plates you just drive straight through.
