Hurghada Hotel

Post by thebian » Fri Feb 05, 2016 7:19 am

Can anyone recommend a reasonable hotel in Hurghada please?

Realise this is a Luxor forum but do know members here use hotels in Hurghada from time to time.
Many thanks for your advice, in advance.

I've just returned home after 2 weeks in El Gouna, Hurguarda, at the Sultan Bey Hotel. Excellent service including cleaning, beautiful gardens, heated infinity pool, good food, free water taxi to Zeytona Beach - would definitely go there again. I booked through Travel Republic, and stayed AI.

There are several excellent hotels in El Gouna....and I endorse Yildez view of Sultan Bey.

As for Hurghada town itself, it's more problematic unless you're prepared for touristy all-inclusive establishments. Steigenberger is the only one I would view as approaching 5 star, if cost isn't an issue.

You might need to define "reasonable ".

Sand Beach is certainly notable!

There can't be that many hotels rated on TripAdvisor as "terrible " by over 50 % of reviewers

Also stayed at Sultan Bey and can endorse everything that Yildez says, we must have put on a stone whilst there, and I must announce that although the sea was freezing Y was brave enough to get in whilst I watched and admired.
A friend stayed at a place called Hor Palace, very basic, very cheap and handy for the airport if your just spending one night there before catching a flight or arrive too late to move on.

In my book that's good, means one doesn't have to mix with the riff-raff.
Plus it has a real English Pub no other hotels in Hurghada do...

Thanks for your replies.

I am really looking for a hotel just for a night, near the airport not El Gouna and by reasonable I mean costwise and facility wise.

I used Seaview last time I needed just 1 night. It was adequate, cheap, and had a wide selection of beer in its small bar. Just down the road the Sherherzade restaurant was good value.

Well, Big Dolly and Long Tall Sally once told me that if you ever wanted a one nighter you could do no better than The Cinderella Hotel for price and service, though I do know that Dolly often used the place as a staff recruitment agency, from the many that frequented the place, for her shop in Luxor. :wi :wi :wi .

Cinderella is half way down the hill from SeaView to Sheherazada. I stopped there for coffee in the morning because it was too early for a Stella. I got the impression that they probably let the rooms by the hour. I wonder how they are coping now that the Russians no longer visit?

Oh Brian, they have always had their own 'staff' hanging around the bar.(24hrs) buisness is still booming, so I am told. :wi .

Big sis and I stayed at one called Sea Garden for two weeks in Sakala area.
Very central to Sheraton Street/Road,quiet and relatively friendly.
3 star,near Marina..but it's location resembled a bomb site..with abandoned building works,heaps of sand,etc.

Would probably be ok for an odd night or two though.Cheap, cheerful, and central.

p.s thebian.My sister and I are aged 63 and 53 respectively and are "ladies"lol!
Not sure if this hotel has any kind of "reputation"of a more salacious nature!

But for two weeks,we had no hassle nor propositions from anyone..apart from a rather enthusiastic shop keeper in the place.
He also seemed to be in charge of the massages offered..but I got a free one for 15mins from a female masseuse as a "taster."
Staff were also quite reserved(when you could find them!)but no hassle whatsoever.

So,quite honestly..if you are a single (female) traveller..then this could be the place for you.

Just merely offering an opinion.
