Interesting to see that the occasional bish-bash was alive in those dim and distant days post the 2011 revolution and to peruse the sword play between members, some still around, some lurking under rocks and some, sadly, no longer with us

Or are they always inebriated, and wearing their "beer goggles"whilst trying to chat up tourists?

Probably all three.....and therefore way out of your class.

Better you stick to caleche-drivers.

They're not too fussy

The one on the right has the busiest hotel on the West Bank.
The one one the left won the best bar & restaurant for 3 years running in Egypt.
The one on the right has a monster new pick-up truck.
The one on the left has one of only 9 Yamaha custom built motorbike.
Both have wives probably half your age.
Any thing else you wish to enquire about ?

The Japanese people have been expecting 'the big one' for many years now. From that article I take it that scientists are agreeing.
When I was in Lisbon, Portugal, recently I heard from a couple of people that many of their beautiful and grand buildings are falling into disrepair because no one is prepared to invest the huge sums of money it would take, bearing in mind that they are due a large earthquake. This was based on the time period patterns between the major quakes they have had in the past.

What is rarely mentioned is that the UK is due a major earthquake! Information I read a couple of years ago so don't have a link for.

Yes. ..the "Pacific ring of fire" does seem to have been active lately with quakes in Alaska, off west coast of South America, Fiji, Papua New Guinea. ..

Notoriously difficult to predict with any accuracy when and where the next biggie will strike. They've been waiting in San Francisco for a century.

The way things are going here, Egypt may be off the tourist trail before earthquakes have any effect :(

Talking of face masks, I went to the pharmacy last night to get a pack, while we were resting yesterday afternoon they decided without telling anyone to thrash the wheat from the fields, we woke to air thick with fine chaff dust, the sun decked under half an inch of dust, the washing on the line caked in dust. This morning up at 4.30am for the clean up operation, complete with dust masks, it was so thick we had to keep stopping and cleaning out the vacuum. All to do now is empty the pool wash the walls and sides, refill and add chemicals. All this could have been avoided if people just inform you what they intend to do the other side of your wall. The tractor and threasher turned up this morning half way through cleaning, I took the sweeping brush, mop and bucket out and gave it to the operator telling him he had to clean up after him, within 10mins he and his machine had gone. I spoke to the farmer and explained if the machine was put here the dust would settle on the flood plains. My next door neighbour is having a duck fit, she has 12 flats to reclean ready for guests tonight, all the bedding has to be replaced, the complex pool has to be emptied and refilled. What a bloody mess created by uncaring and unintelligent people, that would not listen to reason and how to work safe. Really angry and fed up, the work that has been created is astronomical, especially to those who like spic and span cleanliness.

Why is it the local farming community's fault if natural farming 'dust' falls on to the properties that have been built on agricultural land or in their back yard?

Perhaps you would prefer it if they sold off all the land near you and built some high rise flats. That would eventually reduce your dust issue, although it may well negate you having a sun deck!

Do not worry! The problem will soon be solved. There is little agricultural land left to annoy those who like cleanliness.

Now, if only the city could get some infrastructure...

It was noticable that the flue from the machine was aiming towards our properties and not to the open space and fields. It was also noticable, locals were out cleaning today, all wearing long faces and coughing and baulking, countering under their breath.

I Agree with what you say Bennu and of course you are perfectly correct. The only time this will be reversed is when they realise there is no land to grow things and feed themselves, prices will rise because they will have to import food. By then though it will be too late.

Probably cost GD a small fortune persuading them to redirect the shoot. There was a very large water main burst in Luxor this morning, had to drive through a canal. This canal had six skips in it. :D

There is a cold going around that starts off with throat irritation and coughing. Perhaps they have caught it.

Some days just never seem to go right, But the 'silver lining is "what else would you do with your time ? watch telly ?
Power back on after 5 hours, 5 hours to do all those little things you don't do when you have No power.
Today, Iv'e been researching forcemeat's, pâtés & terrines, I have the urge....
This after licking clean last night clean a 50g pot of Comtesse du Barry foie gras de canard.
So out with The Mrs Beaton's & The Larousse Gastronomique.

Now I doubt if I would have done this if we have had electricity.
"Use your time wisely, for the dead move quick!

I have most of the variable ingredients, livers, beef & chicken, smoked mackerel, bacon, brandy ect.
So It's a coming month of fun and cooking for me, and slurping.... 8)

Good for you Dr. Come on guys and chicks, can we stop this behaviour and get the forum back to how it should be. I like most am opinionated about a lot of things and do at times express my opinions, but give people the opportunity to express theirs. I found out after a long time it does not pay to squabble in the forum.
