Luxor International Marathon...

Post by Who2 » Fri Jan 13, 2017 7:59 am

Well once again 'the time has come the Walrus said.....
Someone just informed me that the marathon was on again, climbed to my roof only to catch the 'tail end charlie's.

Another hardly publicised event that nobody knows about has probably just finished...... 8)

Perhaps, because it is now an annual event, the organisers think they don't need to advertise it, expecting all interested parties to have it firmly placed in their diaries. :D

A few years ago they used to tarmac over the sugar-cane railway to make it easier for the marathon. Even last year they painted road markings to guide the runners. This year all I saw was a few miserable cones and barriers down the middle of the road.

The results will eventually be published on http://www.egyptianmarathon.com/EgyptianMarathon/. There were fewer than 100 participants in all categories last year, and this year is likely to have been no better. The last "athletes" are probably finishing about now.

The results have now been posted. There were 44 male and 13 female entrants who completed the full marathon. The last one completed it a bit after 3p.m.

A further 26 completed the half marathon, and 22 completed the 12km Ramses Run. These numbers include all classes of entrant.
