Possible water bill scam?

Post by Dusak » Sun Feb 17, 2019 5:55 am

October and December last year I received two water bills for each of those months, three weeks apart, I objected at the door but was told they were ''catch up bills'' due to underpayment. So I said sod it as the amounts were not worth arguing about and you can never win an argument with theses people. Now my friend tells me that the same has happened to several houses in her village, and these second payments do matter to those concerned. They visited the water offices and indulged in their usual shouting match with many more that were there with the same complaint, only to be told that the second bills were not issued from that office, although, as is the case with mine, they look the same, although slightly paler in color. End result was they went away empty handed. This problem was also discussed on the buses, the main source of disgruntlement topics, seems quite a few have fell victim.

We used to have both water and electric bills that were always estimated. At the end of each year we would get a catch up bill, so maybe that's what it might be D.

In the end I did a deal where I paid over my average bill and at the beginning of the year my first two bills were nothing because I had overpaid.

Haven't had a water bill for years, but I hear a new boss has taken over the electricity department and going to crack down on
meter readings about time mines' only been read once in over 10 years.
But the ever industrious employees have come up with a clever scheme which ones' meter disappears for 30 minutes.
I can say no-more as 'loose lips sink ships it's not what you know but Who you know!.... 8)
Ps: I can honestly admit back in the UK, I have never had a TV licence either.
Pss: Tip. a hoover applied to a disconnected water meter spins it backwards as do old UK gas meters....
Forget your new smart meters they are not that smart! That also applies to 'smart phones. (personalised tracking devices)

Ah, now there is a business opportunity. Special magnets for aluminium. There are plenty out there who will believe it and buy them.
