Went there yesterday to watch the sunset from the roof and have dinner. We were very disappointed to find that the hotel is having major work done, no food available and the place just a building site.
I was very surprised since the hotel hasn't been open very long, hope to go again because I love their food but it certainly wont be for quite a long time.

Re: Thebes Hotel
A pity.
The hotel has a good reputation for such a low cost establishment.
Are they still open for residential business?
Typically, there’s no mention of the work on the booking sites so any guests arriving now are in for an unpleasant surprise......and there’s not really much room for financial redress at around $25 a night

Re: Thebes Hotel
To be honest Newcastle I don't see how they can take guests, the hotel is accessed through the mens toilets after climbing over scaffolding planks. The roof and swimming pool are OK but no food and I certainly wouldn't stay there. Just hope they get the work done quickly and their excellent restaurant is open again.

Re: Thebes Hotel
Sounds like they’re not taking bookings.
At least I hope so. They would be silly to ruin their reputation by accepting bookings which they would undoubtedly have to refund in full.

Re: Thebes Hotel
I think this is planned work scheduled during the hot summer months. Hassan is away in Belgium for the summer. He will be back with a new menu ready for the next winter season.
Hopefully all will be finished by then.

Re: Thebes Hotel
So is all the work finished then Bennu? I was surprised to read that the work had been scheduled for some time, A warning posted in the pool area would have been nice.

Re: Thebes Hotel
I just asked, the answer was that perhaps you should wait a little longer, though you are always welcome!
