I do try to help, but then again, I often wonder,.....why bother, especially when others think they know better, when in fact, they have no idea of the real world,....even in the present climate.
Oh diddums!

If you think you can pre- arrange a mini cab to meet you at Heathrow and drive you to Newcastle for £150 then you really are in cloud cuckoo land.

That your advice was met with ridicule is hardly surprising. :ks

Id be expecting to pay just under £300. A couple of years ago I did the trip the other way round and paid £250 inc tip.
So you paid a man to drive you this distance tax free to travel five hours for £250,......and yet you are still asking for advise on this forum,........oh really.
I did NOT ask for advice on taxi fares. And other advice I have received has been very helpful.

Hatusu, I've just posted elsewhere vague information about a flight from Cairo to London.
Check out the UK in Egypt page for real info as I lost the info before I could copy it.

Yes hatusu, it is an Air Cairo flight. I've now found the original post that I saw earlier - as copied below.

Air Cairo is 60% owned by EgyptAir.

You’d think they could work out some way of transferring the cost of your flight....but I guess not  :

I think in many ways that is quite reasonable when you think of the present situation. From what I understand, when the airline business gets moving again, they intend to have this distancing thing, so where you get a typical 3-4-3 seating, each of the 3 seating will leave the centre seat empty, as also 2 of the 4 centre aisle seats, and some one has to pay, and it certainly will not be EgyptAir.

Up until this pandemic I was travelling quite a lot, so my travelling insurance is quite comprehensive, even to cover the most mickey-mouse places, but no company is giving cover for COVID 19. Some countries are offering automatic state paid cover if you contract the virus while in their country, for that one obviously has to be virus free on arrival, I wish them luck with that one. I cannot imagine any insurance company offering cover for Egypt especially to what Americans call your age bracket and most other ex-pat 'tourists' being the most vulnerable, being,.......SENIORS.

I am hearing horrific stories from friends in Essna and Asswan about Egyptian people who's families are suffering, I have no idea what the situation is at the so called Luxor International Hospital, but for my money, I would want the best, if you ever need it, you will certainly not get it in the third world at the moment.
