covid rules

Post by HEPZIBAH »

I've been asked about the official rules and guidelines that are in place in Egypt at the moment.
Can anyone enlighten me?

Have the official rules and guidelines changed much since the start of the pandemic?

I appreciate that whatever they are, they will not be being obseved by a large proportion of the population, but then that is also the case in other countries - not least the UK and USA.

There are currently restrictions on public transportation operating from midnight until 4am. There are also restrictions, regarding opening hours , numbers of customers and facilities available, on schools, universities, cafes, bars, clubs, hotels and tourist locations .....all of which are operating at a reduced capacity. I think the regulations are, in general, observed by the proprietors, if not their customers.

The wearing of face masks is mandatory in closed public spaces, including government buildings, private offices, malls, retail outlets and public transport including private taxis. Legal penalties could be applied for non-compliance. In general these rules are ignored!

As to voluntary social distancing, there’s no observance that I’ve noticed.

Having returned to Luxor and being here for 10 days I went out for my first walk last night wearing my mask. I only saw three other people wearing a mask. There was certainly no social distancing on the Corniche and on going to Omar Market - not one person wore a mask!

I am really surprised by the amount of people here and in Egypt that ask, "When are you returning ?

I always answer the same 'when it's safe' .usually leaving out:....

"what idiots wish to fly in a sardine-can with a load other idiots ?
Sometimes adding " just what part of pandemic don't You understand ?

I feel the general public think that, Covid 19 is just some sort of consprital chinese hoax,
even with today's figure of 1.27 million deaths worldwide.

So please, STOP asking me. It's only lasted 12 months, so far in my life.... 8)

Ps: And if you think 'lockdown is tough, try Prison for a spell.....ffs...

I think you should answer “when I judge it’s safe....”

After all, some think it never was, and never will be, safe whilst others wonder what all the fuss is about.
