Books here are a great problem - so few novels or fiction other than holiday reading! However, you can get second hand books at ACE - for 10LE each, and if you take some to swap, the swap costs 5LE.
ANother good place for second hand books is Ahmed Aboudi's shop in the side street beside Genesis in Karnak.

i take a lot of books from the major hotels. People leave their holiday reads behind alot and the hotels don't usually mind you taking them, especially if you leave another in its place.
