Great Book

Post by Chocolate Eclair »

Just read a great book by the Aurthor Jackie Travane, called "Fatwa" based on true facts. Lessons can be learned from this book.... But an amazing read, with some not suprising results. A good book for Women to read.

I read this book about 6 years ago. It was an interesting read but she was extremely naive to say the very least :?

Jacky also doesn't come across as the most balanced of individuals. She was on holiday with a boyfriend, met an Egyptian on the street and ended up staying with the Egyptian and his family. If I remember correctly there was no further mention of the boyfriend and she didn't even tell him where she was. To me she comes across as the sort of woman who sets herself up to be a victim and at no point does she take any personally responsibility for the situation she found herself in.

Angela Jackie Travane seems to me to be alot like 60% of Beritish women that come to Egypt. Thats why I enjopyed the book and could relate to the many things that had haooened to her, the words gullable, silly and darn right stupid cvame to mind. But, there again I can relate to what I see happening everyday. I think they come to the lesser populated areas on the West Bank to save thier blushes ans embarrassment.

I have also read this book about 3 or 4 years ago and agree with Angela regarding the situation she got herself in was no fault of her own and not knowing the culture, who in there right mind would go off with a stranger in a foreign country I would not even do it in the UK.

I enjoyed the book very much and hopefully people reading it will learn from Jackies mistakes.

No chance people will be "saved" by this book.

I'm afraid that the My Mohamed Is Different law applies - even to me! :)

Edited to add that I have been wonderfully well looked after for 20 years, happily MMID really is, Al Hamdulillah.
Smile! It confuses people

Have to read this, I understand it relates very well to the book I will be publishing myself :D

Edit: No, I am not publishing my own experiences ;)
