Writng Competition Feb 2013
There have been requests for the Writing Competition to start again so here we are - Competiton no1
For the first writing competition of 2013 I have chosen as the inspiration a photograph. It was the winning photograph in the 2011 January/February Photograph Competition. It was submitted by Jo and I have her permission to use it.
Please submit entries - Poetry or Prose - by pm to Hepzibah not later than 10pm GMT on Friday 15th February. They will then be uploaded, a poll set up, and a voting deadline set.
Writing Competition Guidelines
- Each member may submit up to three entries in each of the writing competitions, which may be Poetry or Prose or other writing style as set by the competiton setter.
- Please keep the language clean and family friendly! Any entries deemed to be offensive will be removed.
- Entries should be submitted by pm to Hepzibah who will then upload them for anonymity.
- Once the deadline for entries has been reached Poll will be put up for members to vote for their favourite piece.
- The winner of each competition will be the person to choose the next topic. They will be able to submit pieces for that months subject for interest but will not be actual entrants into that particular competition.
- Time limits on competitions may vary but will be posted.
(These guidlines may be updated by Admin as and when required.)

My photo's not very clear, could we have a full list of the load and the mans age. I think this is going to be difficult.

Can I just check - When you say the photo is not very clear do you mean that it will not enlarge? It's working fine for me.Dusak wrote:My photo's not very clear, could we have a full list of the load and the mans age. I think this is going to be difficult.
As for the load and the mans age - you are the writer. It is for your imagination to fill in all the gaps that the original visual piece doesn't.
I chose the picture because I thought there was so much there to inspire!
Edit: The photo can also be seen in the Gallery - Competition Winners page 2

I'm very pleased to say we've already had our first entry into the writing competition. Not bad considering it's less that 24 hours since it was announced! Looking forward to many more entries - so get scribbling folks.

Re: Writng Competition Feb 2013
I thought that I was being clever so I went on the net and searched for a program of prose in my search for inspiration, you just have to put key words in and it gives you ideas. All I got was some bird called Jenny living in Cairo that would like to meet me.

Re: Writng Competition Feb 2013
Unfortunately no. There is no actual prize for this competition, just the satisfaction of sharing your compositions with others.Dusak wrote:Does the winner get a Keefy T shirt like in the good old days?
Just in case there is any misunderstanding by newer members - most of the writing competitions in the past didn't have prizes either!

Re: Writng Competition Feb 2013
I probably won't be online much in the next few days. Please continue to send me your entries, but please don't be offended if you don't get a response the same day. I will get back in touch with you and confirm I have received your pm as soon as I possibly can.

Is there a word limit?
I might agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!

Re: Writng Competition Feb 2013
For this particular competition there is no actual word limit - although it is probably best not to aim to compete with War and Peace and such novels in length!LivinginLuxor wrote:Is there a word limit?

Confession - I've been busy with work and life and stuff and fallen behind with this. Will get onto it asap and hope to post the poll later today or tomorrow at the latest.Dusak wrote:So, whats happened with the results?
