Armed Civilian Militias Hit the Streets of Upper Egypt

Post by Glyphdoctor »

Some of you may remember that there was a big uproar under Morsi when al-Gamaa al-Islamiya said it would provide security services on the streets. Well, according to this article, a variation on that is back, this time with the police's blessing:

All depends on who's side the "militia" are on, this homeguard is to protect property it appears not kill someone out walking his girlfriend home.
It nothing new down here and it was much in evidence directly after Mubarak and much of the police left.

I think that to allow armed vigilante groups onto the streets could be a wrong decision. They do tend to forget at times who's side they are on and mistakes are so easily committed when a nervous, sweaty finger is on the trigger. :td
