CAIRO (Reuters) - At least 15 people drowned when a small boat collided with a barge and capsized on the Nile River near Cairo on Wednesday night, Egypt's interior ministry said in a statement.
The collision occurred on the Nile near Giza, across the river from Cairo, the ministry statement said.
In addition to the 15 dead and six rescued, about seven people who were believed to have been on the boat were still unaccounted for, security sources said.

This is not current news. It happened last week and received a lot of government and media coverage then.

I couldn't believe there had been a second one as there has been a lot of fall out over the last few days:-
Nile barges will be banned from passing through Cairo from sunset to sunrise until the end of September, according to a Sunday decree by Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab.
Mahlab ordered Friday the temporary suspension of the chief of the river transport bureau, which operates under the transport ministry, and the head of the rivers bureau, which is under the interior ministry, 48 hours after the Nile boat collision.

I was also shocked when I saw this headline here and could only hope that it wasn't a second tragedy. I didn't have to time to check it earlier but now note that the article was marked Reuters July 23, 2015 3:28 AM
