Basma Hotel, Aswan

Post by Winged Isis »

Has anyone stayed here within the last couple of years? I've stayed there three times, but it's been eight years since the last, and it needed refurbishment. Has it been done or is it being/going to be done?

Can anyone suggest alternative mid-range hotels on EB, please? I know some good ones on WB, thanks.

I haven't stayed there for some years either Winged Isis so can't comment on that but I did stay at the Isis on the island a couple of years ago and although it was almost completely deserted the place was clean the food OK and the ride on the boat backwards and forwards to Aswan was regular and a pleasure. Nice views from there too. Yildez stayed at the Isis on the corniche a couple or 3 of years ago and I don't think she was too impressed with that hotel.
I have also stayed at the Pavillion wing of the Cataract and although the place looks like a prison block the rooms were good, the food excellent and the pool wonderful.

Thank you, carrie. I think the one on the island is the Pyramisa Isis.

The Pyramisia is the one on the Corniche, where I stayed 5 years ago. The other one is Isis Island.

I love the Isis Island! DH prefers the Movenpick but, although the service, rooms and food there are good, there is something very personal about the Isis Island for me. Maybe it's the view from our usual room; maybe the sound of the children's voices carrying across the Nile from the local school or maybe it's just the fact that the minute I sit down on the patio I feel totally at peace - who knows? But I love it there! :up
