Water Gardening...

Post by Who2 »

Being offline was at first a nuisance then became a gift.
I have been gardening my big canal which is intermittent due to it's rise & fall.
Last week, I bought a child's dingy to change it into a handy gardening tool.
It was chinese, it and I and my tools all sank, mid-stream much to the amusement of next door's kid.
I've resorted to my trusty kayak.

With my temporary new vista I spot all-sorts of before unseen wildlife and as I have been butchering 30 kilos of 'oink-oink I have also been feeding the warrens, which is most amusing.TBC..'happy ramadammin...
Ps: Any ideas! where I can purchase 5 liters of resin & 5 meters of fibre-glass ? so I can turn it into a coracle.

The second day of my builders cleaning the house. They found two nice sized scorpions in the empty Stella store, now in the fridge ready as my 'weird visitor presents (they can survive 2 months in the fridge but not the freezer!)
And this is them cleaning my corniche and having fun..

Are you going to catch and eat? There is something similar in Trinidad. The most delicious and tender meat I've ever tasted and eaten.

An item on the BBC yesterday showed a new maggot farm. These little wrigglers are being genetically bred to counteract the world food shortages. High in protean and fiber. The presenter didn't look that impressed as he stuffed a live one in his mouth. :eat

I can eat most anything (and have) but highly doubt I could put a live wriggler into my mouth unless I was pretty darn hungry ....

If I was to eat them - they have to kill 'em, dye 'em and make them into something that passed as a solid chunk of meat I could cut with a knife and fork and not know what the food really was. Kinda like they do now in the fast food places! :eat :eat

I have been waiting weeks for the canal level to lower so I can continue working on my water garden.
Today was the day, sailed across wearing my outsized 'ship-ships so as not to sink in the mud and noticed the mongees's ? mongooses ? had been digging around. Slipped and slid everywhere with 3 kids shouting at from the far bank asking for sweets, I informed them what they could do with their request.
Any replanted some great reeds and planted more papyrus, so slowly things improve until someone chucks a burning cigarette from the road above…
