Egypt will see the first phase of its first comprehensive civilization museum finished by late November, according to Antiquities Minister Mamdouh al-Damaty.
During a tour checking on works at the museum on Monday, Damaty said the UNESCO-backed National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, located at the Fustat area in Old Cairo, would be open for tourists and local visitors as soon as possible.
Khaled al-Anany, the project’s general supervisor, said the museum is planned to host 50,000 pieces of antiquities dating back to pre-dynastic and modern eras, and will also include a prestigious cultural and research center.
