Ken Burns does do some excellent series, The War, Prohibition, & The West are also worth a look at. :up

Amazing documentary, i am a passionate student of the American Civil war as i am the Napoleonic era.

This documentary is by far the best on this period and the narration by Morgan Freeman is brilliant.

Yes I agree it is a great series and it was shown sometime back on one of the Sky Channels, I watched the whole series. I particularly like the fact that several different peoples letters and accounts of the war are read throughout, my favourite name that keeps cropping up is 'Mary Chestnut' and my favourite general is General William Tecumseh Sherman who I suppose the WW2 tank was named after. He has a very rugged face and character and looked amazingly like a local Dr of mine. ;)

Yes, Sherman's campaigning in the central/western regions and his eventual "march to the sea" were military masterclasses.
