My former work colleagues used to say that trouble in Egypt only flares up when I am planning a visit.

No doubt the latest terrible news would, if they knew make them believe it even more.

I decided last week that I needed to come back to Egypt this summer.

I hope I will be allowed to.

You won't believe this, it just happened as I read your comment. I now stand facing my open front bedroom window when I use the laptop. I'm going half with my tenant with the cost of TE Data so this position gets the best signal. Quite a pleasant position as I tend to adopt a bad position with the laptop if I sit for to long so suffer later with aching legs, and my cig smoke goes though the window. Every morning I feed the stays outside, 3/6 of them. This morning there was no sign of them [5am] so logged on the computer. Within minutes my other cat Bob appeared at the window via the top of the AC unit, demanding to use this newly discovered front entrance.

I opened the window for him, but his attention was obviously drawn to the strays that had arrived. I eventually got him through with a piece of last nights chicken. As I was busy on here I ignored the cats hungry calls for a moment. Wish I hadn't. The smaller female that had a litter a few weeks ago suddenly appeared on the windowsill, promptly turned her arse to face me and sprayed onto and through the fly screen drenching my cup of tea, cigs and lighter with pee. Lucky none hit the laptop, but it absolutely stinks .

This morning I gave Bob a good helping of the chicken carcass from the night before, couldn't be bothered stripping the rest for myself, so gave it the cats outside. It provided an interesting study [from the safety of an indoor vantage point] how quickly and quite savagely, cats can reduce such an object to nothing within moments. That could of been me. There is a new kid on the block now, a tan and white tom with a set of danglers that you would only see in a porn movie. By the looks of him he has completed at least three tours of Iraq. At the moment the one with the golden shot pee hole is keeping him at bay, but I see interesting times ahead.

Why not collect and ship to China "Soup of the Day" Nice little earner for you there. You could have course have the Tom's neutered, for a good supply of nuts at Christmas.

We don't have many cats where we live, only left overs from the Ferrule Dogs.

ferrule
ˈfɛruːl,ˈfɛr(ə)l
noun

a ring or cap, typically a metal one, which strengthens the end of a handle, stick, or tube and prevents it from splitting or wearing.
a metal band strengthening or forming a joint

Can't quite imagine how you'd adapt a dog to such a purpose :urm:

A few years ago I noticed a cat emerging from a broken window in my neighbour's house. The property had been unoccupied for some time so further investigation seemed in order. It transpired that a whole colony of felines had taken up residence, using the convenient access of a broken pane. They were everywhere! Nesting in the bedrooms....the sofa had been gutted and the stuffing formed a cozy bed for several litters . Quite a mess...took weeks to clear them out and get rid of the smell.

Homeless cats roaming around are a bit of a problem and perhaps some kind cat-loving soul on the West Bank could do them a favour by lobbing a brick through the ground floor window of any vacant property and give them shelter. They are quick to spot an opportunity....trust me!

There must be, if not now, maybe later in the year, an unoccupied house somewhere...Gezira....Djorff.....
