Re: New member totally!
Jane, you sound like a really nice person so good luck in making up your mind about where to live.
You know that, from an English point of view, you have an 'unfortunate' name. However, you are lucky that the English, who dominate this site, know nothing of their own history and are therefore unlikely to chop off your head even if you marry the wrong (Royal) person (but then who would).
Your experiences of Cairo, especially over the past two years, would be of interest to me and, I think, many others.
If its of any use, my view is that most people on this site are at least fine (or very good) but our big weakness is staying on the point and avoiding being personal. I suffer from both diseases.
Good luck - hope you get something out of the forum.

Re: New member totally!
Hafiz, are you thinking of Jane Seymour and Henry VIII? If so, she didn't lose her head! She died in childbirth after giving Henry his son and heir Edward. He beheaded Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard. As a child I was taught this little ditty to help me remember: divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. In order they were: Katherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, Katherine Parr.

Re: New member totally!
Yildiz - thank you - blind prejudice prevented me from checking the facts and, in any case, the rote learning of 16th century royal marriages wasn't part of my education.
These (my) ratty posts will give Jane the wrong idea: so maybe we should terminate the conversation at this juncture or disjuncture.
The point in all of this should be to welcome Jane rather than confirm any views that she might have that we are ratty, mad or worse.

No she's German as is Phillip. Well mostly in her case.
Not only is she Supreme Governor, under God, of the Church of England she also governs, under God, the Church of Scotland, the Church of Wales and the Church of (Northern) Ireland. I don't know if there is an established national church of Bermuda or the British Virgin Islands, if so she is probably supervising them for God. So much for her to do, so little time. Maybe Charles could lighten the load, and get in some useful experience, by governing one or two as the earthly (deputy) representative of God.

Does it show? Being of Irish background also 'helps'.
Anachronisms and archaisms are always a satisfying target to aim at and practice makes perfect.
