Closer to the end of the world...

Post by HEPZIBAH »

Oh dear... there's going to be another rush on tissues in the shops. :a77:

For many people, who so far have been coping with the present crisis, their world is closer to coming to an end. :a82:

It has been announced that UK television schedules are about to change and the soaps are going to be reduced in number during the week. :a56:

Of course, there are others in the population who see this a positive step. :a59:

The only soap drama needed in the UK, and the world as a whole, is the regular washing of hands. :bs:

OMG how are people going to manage.
Personally my TV is not even connected, since I decided to move it months ago never put the wires back. I think in a way CV might be a good thing, force families to speak to each other and not come home and slump in front of the goggle box.

We should spare a thought for MT ...an avid Corrie fan.

What will he do? I imagine his usual round of tribute band concerts will have been cancelled.

Nothing to do but sit at home and dwell on all his Luxor friends, and the natives he cared for so much, struggling to stay alive.

I've not had a TV for years. Well that's not strictly true, I have an analogue TV stashed far in the back of a cupboard.
I gave up years ago, refusing to buy another television license because I was so fed up with what was being shown. I'd either seen it before, or it wasn't worth watching (soaps came high under that heading for me).

It is fair to say that I do still watch some television programmes, but when I do I am in my office or student common room - both of which are covered by a television licence (but I didn't have to pay for it), watching through my computer screen. I enjoy the occasional drama and am happy to while away an hour or two with a good film, but I am selective. Unfortunately, the majority of my viewing at the moment is spent watching news/info programmes relating to the Corona Virus. I need to be as informed as possible for both myself and my work.

One of the fun constants in my life is and has been the telly licence.
I inherited a large house in 66 me and my mates lived there.
The TV licencing was part of our fun.
These days they the PO have 'outed the 'detection collection.
From those early daft days of those Bedford detections vans are in your area.
Now, all they do is to threaten to visit you, really ? and then tried to up the threat by
changing those stupid threatening letters.

Spare me it's been fun with the beeb and their licences it'll be paying taxes next.
Death & Taxes does not equate!, 137 and counting!..... 8)

Ps: Mrs Queen is bolstering up our 'stiff resolve,
.........'and I've not been invited to Windsor for the weekend...again!
