Lighten the heavy load. Collective one liners.

Post by Dusak »

They say that each and every one of use has a book hidden within them. So lets lighten the sometimes heavy posts by creating our own. When at college, especially end of term and free time was in abundance, one of the tutors would lighten the period by giving us these one liners that traveled around the class. The idea is to add your own one liner to follow on from the last, but not necessarily creating a perfect flow story wise. It can run with the previous line or can go off at a complete tangent. Here is the starter line.

John and Mary faced the door of the restaurant, was it open for business or closed? As only one dim bulb attempted to illuminate the inside. But this was Egypt and being familiar to the sudden power cuts and feeling hungry John pushed the door open...

And walked into the dimly lit restaurant, Mary following close behind.
Suddenly, the door closed behind them, and they turned around but no one was there, then a voice from a table in the alcove on the left said.
Sit down here, we have been expecting you. You have a date with destiny.
There's a time for everyone, if they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn.

Intrigued but also slightly nervous, John pushed Mary forward, she glanced back at John, was he mad, again he prodded her forward, the voice came again, please, others are expected..
It is what it is.

Again the door opened, and again another dimly lite bulb illuminated. Mary made a mental head count. Six customers in all. Again she looked towards the heavily cowled monk that sat to her left, across from their table, drumming his fingers on the large leather bound tome that he seemed to be guarding on the tables top. She once again attempted to read the inverted title.

Cyril had watched the arrival of John and Mary, he was rather perplexed, he thought his date with destiny was to be astounded by a cultural dinner followed by belly dancers, he had been imagining the scantily clad women for the last 15 minutes, wondering if they were like the lap dancers in Glasgow....
It is what it is.

Craning her neck Mary finally read the title of the book ...................Pecuniary Advantages of teaching Glasgow Lap dancing.
Smile! It confuses people
