Does anyone know of a place in Luxor where I can get a waffle maker (preferably Belgian style)? Mine has given up the ghost!

All you Belgians out there:
Step right up, Step right up!
Potshots at BB are in the offing!!
If you don't locate one down there Scott, Carrefour and Hyper One in Cairo have them.

Maple syrup?? Is there any other way??? For Sharon & I were born in northern New England - Vermont to be exact - - so tell us about maple syrup!!!
In the absence of any sound advice other than Goddess, I will check Plastic city and hope for the best - failing that - my next trip to Cairo!!!.
In the meantime I shall continue to scour Luxor for a Belgian!!!!!!
Best to all,
Scott

'Fraid I cannot assist with locating a machine in Luxor. But I can tell you that Wael has one, and he has got waffles on the current Specials Menu at Gerda's. Garden. Though personally, I prefer his crepes!

Pancakes are the way forward! And not long now until pancake day (shrove tuesday) wonder if there will still be any snow around for the batter? (Makes the batter lighter)
Love mine with sugar and lemon juice

He's just being polite Goddess, he didn't really mean it, either that or he was really clutching at straws
Sorry
Didn't know about the waffles, I agree about the crepes though, had strawberry one last week

I tried the waffles in Gerdas place this week. I know Wael uses a German machine to make them, but my idea of a waffle is somewhat different. These were thin paper doily looking items, which I must say I really enjoyed with cream and chocolate sauce. However I seem to remember my mother making waffles that were quite thick and punched out with a waffle iron. Not the same thing at all.
Note to Scott..... A waffle maker can be purchased in Alex, and I assume it would be the German version.

Not quite sure that I would agree there Jewel
the last time we tried that method we used a lovely yellow snow that we found thinking it would add some colour to them, but I have to say they tasted awful

The waffle makers I've seen up here are the normal sort (didn't realise there was an abnormal sort ... but there you go!) By normal sort I mean the one that makes a square shape with about 9 holes in it. Not sure how much it was as I was far too interested in the price of kettles at the time.
