A couple of months ago I finally found baking paper from Spinneys. What a joy. But I was happy way too early. Now I used it and oh boy, it sure is Egyptian made paper...it got stuck to my bakings I totally forgot this in Luxor, should have popped into Maarad Sherif to look for the paper. Maybe I try Metro here in Cairo.
- It's one of those things I've been so afraid to run out of, that I always brought it from Europe until I saw it in Alfa and Metro in Cairo. Last year I discovered a room in my suitcase I thought I' d never seen before, but it was full of baking paper sheets that must have travelled between the continents - I don't know how many times.
- I got a new suitcase last year, and some weeks ago... I found another packet inside.
since the Eid holiday is around the corner.....I would like some help finding some baking ingredients. My family always bakes sweets for the holiday....since this is our first year in...

Ahhh! That's what I suspected! We have been using pure ghee since we got here for sauteeing - it doesn't scorch.
If you think back to good ol' USA - did you ever use Crisco?? Makes perfect pie...
