You are getting far too good LLL, that is a lovely shot
Went for a walk this morning with Mrs G around a local lake (former gravel pit) and were very lucky to see this fellow landed.

29 pounds of Mirror Carp.
But after weighing and taking photos he was very sympathetically allowed to recover in a canvas sheet in the water before being released.

The guys who sit around the lake all night with half a dozen rods out really show great respect for their catch and look after them so that someone else can hopefully have the pleasure of catching the 'big one'
Something we have talked about before is polarisers. Sitting on a bench beside a small stream I took 2 pics from the same point and collaged them to show the effect of 'no polariser' on the left and 'with polariser' on the right.

Just adding this for anyone who has not tried a poloriser to reduce glare.

Wow! thats a whopper Grandad, glad they put them back though, great shot!
I haven't a polariser but clearly see the difference.
I received a surprise buch of flowers from my daughter today 2-3 roses included but I'm now arguing with myself why I cant get the colour right, crisp & clear & not the deep red the roses are, I've tried every mode & settings on camera.......I've now thrown the camera in disgust with myself...arghhhhhhhhhh!!!
Help.

Beautiful shot of the fish! A veritable WHOPPER! And so considerate that it was released. Rarely happens here.
I just, last night, bought a polarizer off Ebay for my latest lens the 18-105mm. Bought a UV lens as a protector but actually 'forgot' about the polarizer. Remembered it quite quickly when taking photos of the ducks.
And to confess about the duck it came in, landed and then fluffed itself 'up' again which is when I got it. But I find with the more 'telescopic' type lens it is really hard to follow a moving subject. I actually had the setting that took a whole bunch of pictures in a row but only caught this one to the side of the picture and then had to crop it more to the middle.
I know what Kiya is talking about too. Sometimes the colour in a flower I am seeing isn't the actual colour that is coming out in the picture. I haven't decided if it is the camera OR how it is coming out on my laptop. Sometimes the colour is close and other times way off. I think in brighter sunnier days it is harder to get the true colour.
These are my early morning photos of lilies on the street. It is kinda overcast here today and the colours are coming out pretty close to what I saw them to be.

Thanks Grandad - thanks for posting my lilies......hmmmm the line I'm posting is too short??? Hmmm. I'm resizing the photo and saving it, then uploading to an album (misc) then am highlighting and cutting and pasting the line below the photo where it says "highlight and cut and paste" to your post. It worked last night and has worked before yet at other times I get nothing. Am totally baffled by this cause am sure I'm doing the same thing each time but ???
I wonder 'why' what I'm cutting and pasting is so short (cause it was really the same length last night).......AHH the vagaries of cyber world!
;);) Have NO IDEA 'why why why'!
but thank you for posting these lilies for me.....they're in full bloom 'round here right now and very very pretty. Quite in competition with the roses.
I can also appreciate what Kiya is saying cause it happens with me too. I much prefer taking photos on overcast days vs bright sun cause I have more difficulties in the full sun. I also (and am trying hard not to say "OFTEN" but 'tis true) I also in the sun take my own shadow! Am doing this less and less cause am now 'seeing my shadow' more so am moving and walking 'round now to get a better shot. Am learning!

Something weird is happening on here then Brian.
If I am in Google chrome and try to post pictures, I get the same result as LLL and have to log on again in IE to post them. But when in IE all other pictures in the thread appear as white squares with a red cross except the ones I post??????
I can upload to album no probs in either Google or IE.
Where are you 'Z' we need you.

Stan, I do a full maintenance procedure every Monday evening including a full scan, cache clean up and registry clean and back-up. I do agree however that I may have a hidden problem because just lately my computer has been locking up, something that has never happened in the past.....
To illustrate the two URL's that I get, in Google for LLL's first lily pic I copy album_pic.php?pic_id=9273 the same as LLL (that doesnt work, except for Brian) whereas in IE I get album_pic.php?pic_id=9273 that does work.
I have removed the start and finish brackets so they are not active...
Edit: I am in IE and find that all of LLL's pictures are open in this thread but all others, including my own, are white squares with red crosses.
Re-edit: All of LLL's pics are from the miscellaneous album and mine are from my personal album, is there a clue there?????

I just went back to the white Lily photo and did exactly what the instructions said, highlight, copy and paste.

I have to say that because I have difficulty with getting photos on here I really haven't bothered with the photo contests or anything cause it is too difficult and I only score out about 20% in getting anything to post. Not sure why. Last night I was on a roll and did several threads but then this morning I was back to not being able to get a photo on here. I do not have Google Chrome so ??
I've never had the small photos with red crosses in them. I seem to be able to get all photos that are posted by everybody else. Am going to hit the "magic" submit button now and SEE if my lily photo came out OR if I've just ended up with one line of typing again.......always a suprise!
