EDFU archaeological dig

Post by Kevininabydos »

Here is an interesting blog you may want to follow. It is about the excavations at Edfu. the opening Quote says:
The site of Tell Edfu is located roughly halfway between Luxor and Aswan, Egypt. As the former capital of the 2nd Upper Egyptian nome, it has over 3000 years of history standing. The Tell Edfu Project, under the auspices of the Oriental Institute, aims to investigate the remains of this ancient city.
It seems to be updated regularly and has some brilliant photos of the 'dig in progress'.

Yes - i bookmarked it from a Google Alert. It's more to do with the Tell around the temple - must be fascinating stuff to find there!
I might agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!

Looking at the mountains their digging like ants all over the place presently, One hopes that they all have their permits in place and signed, but I wonder who in these turbulent times is signing anything, I reckon it's 'all hands to the shovels, 'Whilst the cat's away, the mice they will, play" ......I reckon!........8)

Sorry - my message was complete when I hit the submit button!

I got it from a Google ALert, and was going to say that the excavations aren't in the temple but in the Tell around it. They've even built a small area where the excavations are explained, on the way in to the temple.
I might agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!
